Removing the edge of the asphalt layer
Remove each material separately.
Installing the loose base course

Install and compact the base course (road foundation).
Use material specified by the construction manager/foreperson.
Restoring the asphalt layer and sealing the joint

Install and compact the surface.

Careful installation and proper compaction of each layer protects the pipe against damage!

The fill above the pipe (covering and primary backfill layers) has a very high weight, placing a high load on the pipe.
Good compaction of the fill in the trench against the in-situ soil somewhat reduces this load (from the fill, road surface and traffic) by transferring part of it into the trench wall.
Through careful compaction in the haunch area beneath the pipe, careful installation of the lower bedding layer and creation of a load-bearing trench bottom, the loads acting on the pipe are safely and evenly transferred to the load-bearing substrate.

Testing for leaks

The inflatable pipe plugs and branch pipe plug are inserted and expanded.
The intermediate area is filled with compressed air.
The branch line is considered to be sealed if the air pressure is maintained for a certain length of time.
The connection must remain sealed over the long term. To ensure this, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
